I am an easy-going licensed mental health counselor at Choices Counseling and Consulting. I received both my master’s at Russell Sage College (formally Sage Graduate School) and, my first in Forensic Mental Health and then my second in Counseling and Community Psychology.  I have worked with a variety of individuals, most recently working with youth and their families within middle schools and alternative schools, as well as youth involved in the Juvenile Justice system. Prior to that, I spent an extensive amount of time working within the substance abuse field, working within an outpatient clinic, their mobile treatment team for individuals in rural areas, and within the local prison systems. Within therapy, I use a multitude of techniques from Gestalt to Motivational Interviewing to CBT to Solution-Focused.

I am a firm believer in treating the whole person, which means involving all aspects of the client’s life and how that contributes to their presenting issues. I believe in the four pillars of health (Nutrition, Exercise, Stress Control, and Sleep) and try to touch upon those when treating the whole person. I believe that it is important to have a therapeutic alliance as the foundation of therapy and if both the client and the therapist do their part it will be a positive experience.
