Alcohol Evaluation

When someone is arrested for and receives a DWI (driving while intoxicated) or a DWAI (driving while impaired by either/both alcohol and recreational drugs), they are required to be assessed by a Credential Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). The CASAC will review your arrest report, substance use history, and determine whether and to what extent a driver has a substance abuse problem, and they can then make recommendations to the court. The alcohol assessment will determine if there is an alcohol use disorder and whether or not education or treatment is recommended to minimize risks in the future. Please note that not everyone who completes an evaluation will need treatment.
