My name is Siobhan “Shevy” Fitzgerald-Matson, LMSW, (they/them) and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker and psychotherapist with Choices Counseling and Consulting. I earned my graduate degree from the University at Buffalo’s School of Social Work in 2018, and received my undergraduate degree in Sociology and Gender and Sexuality Studies from St. Lawrence University in 2010.

My approach to therapy is rooted in feminism, empowerment, and alternative and holistic healing methods. I like to utilize a combination of therapy modalities including but not limited to mindfulness-based stress reduction practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and harm reduction psychotherapy. Though I enjoy working with folks from all kinds of cultures and communities, I specialize in gender journey counseling and have been involved in advocacy and policy work efforts for people who identify as transgender and/or gender expansive; I consider service to these communities to be my lifelong passion and calling.

I have extensive experience as a sexual health educator and feel comfortable talking with folks about sexuality and sexual trauma. I co-develop interventions with clients tailored to their unique emotional, physical and spiritual needs. I love to spend time with my family, play and write music with my husband, pal around with our toddler, and go for hikes in the woods with our pups, Ruby and Onyx.
