Choices Counseling and Consulting offers therapeutic services for a variety of psychological and emotional needs for women and men, children and adolescents. Services include Individual Therapy, Relationship Counseling, Family Therapy, Group Counseling, and Teletherapy. Clients will receive a thorough assessment, diagnosis as appropriate, and work with a therapist to develop an individualized treatment plan to address the issues that brought them to therapy.
Individual Therapy is an opportunity to meet with a therapist one-on-one within a safe and confidential environment to examine issues within the privacy of a psychotherapeutic session. Individual counseling provides “therapeutic intimacy” to discuss relationship issues, childhood issues, or problems surfacing due to employment, career or personal life changes.
Individual therapy is available for adults, adolescents and children.
Relationship & Couples Counseling
Relationship counseling is also called marital counseling or couples counseling, and sometimes close friends can be seek out relationships counseling. It is assumed that “it takes two to tango,” and the therapist can assist couples in working more effectively together as a team, and become increasingly sensitive to the “other side” of the issues. The staff at Choices are trained to work heterosexual and same-sex couples, as well as larger social networks.
Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that generally involves more than one person in a family working together (parents, couples, etc.). However, family therapy is based in “systems” theory, which views families as an integrated, whole system and focuses on relationships and communication patterns rather than traits or symptoms in individual members. Family systems therapy is a way of understanding how family members impact individual lives, so individuals can engage in family therapy also. The staff at Choices are all trained in family systems perspectives, and will sometimes work with individuals in a family, and also the family together as a unit.
Group Therapy involves sessions guided by a therapist and attended by several other clients who confront their personal issues together in a safe and confidential space. The interaction among clients is considered to be an integral part of the therapeutic process. Group therapy offers individuals additional support from peers who may have similar experiences or insight as how to deal and respond to various life issues.
