The Pride Center

 

The Pride Center of the Capital Region (Pride Center) is an organization devoted to serving the Capital District's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) community. Located in Albany, NY, the Center has been serving the Capital District for over thirty years. We provide numerous programs and activities including youth and peer support groups, cultural events, CommUNITY (our publication), Capital Pride, The Rainbow Café, and provide a home to a number of recovery groups that serve the LGBT community. The Pride Center provides counseling services through Center Support Counseling.

In Our Own Voices
 

In Our Own Voices is a Capital District non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgendered People of Color, our Friends and Families.

RAI
 

Rainbow Access Initiative is an organization dedicated to increase the accessibility of health and human services to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community and their families, with particular emphasis on underserved populations. The original program was developed under the direction of Arlene Istar Lev, and was funded through a series of grants from the New York State Department of Health.

St. Rose
 

The College of Saint Rose Voice Modification Program provides voice and communication services to individuals in the transgender community. Two-hour sessions include both group and individual treatment, and clients have the chance to speak to classes about the transgender experience. Program participants work with graduate student clinicians studying speech-language pathology in a supportive college environment.

PFLAG
 

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays is a national organization with local chapters. PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.

COLAGE
 

Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere is a national movement of children, youth, and adults with one or more lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or queer (LGBTQ) parent/s. COLAGE builds community and work toward social justice through youth empowerment, leadership development, education, and advocacy.

Family Equality Council
 

Family Equality Council (formerly Family Pride) works to ensure equality for LGBT families by building community, changing hearts and minds, and advancing social justice for all families.

The Trevor Project
 

The Trevor Project is a national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH, formerly the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association, or HBIGDA) is the professional association that publishes the Standards of Care for transgender health.

GLAP (Gay and Lesbian Affirmative Psychotherapy) is a New York City based organization. Its mission is to offer affordable, affirmative psychoanalytic psychotherapy to members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities and to sensitize and educate mental health professionals providing treatment.

Lambda Legal
 

Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work. From our national headquarters in New York and four regional offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles, our legal and public education experts select the cases and issues that will have the greatest impact in protecting and advancing the rights of LGBT people and those with HIV.

Sylvia Rivera Law Project
 

Sylvia Rivera Law Project works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine their gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence. A New York City organization, SRLP seeks to increase the political voice and visibility of low-income people and people of color who are transgender, intersex, or gender non-conforming. SRLP works to improve access to respectful and affirming social, health, and legal services for our communities.
